(Performance Characteristics)

Chemical Indicator Strips for steam sterilization is consisted of special card, standard color patch, and indicator strip and to display indictor color patch (yellow) by printing indicator ink onto a strip of special paper (standard color patch).

After the internal temperature of the autoclave sterilizer reaches to the required temperature 121°C by application of saturated steam, the indicator color patch turns dark or black from original yellow in 20 minutes, and after the internal temperature of the autoclave sterilizer reaches to the required temperature 132°C by application of saturated steam, the indicator color patch turns black from original yellow in 3 minutes, which means that the sterilization process fulfills the eligible requirement.

(Application Scope)

This product is intended to be used for indicating whether the articles pack or container has been sterilized.

(Usage)

      On monitoring, this chemical indicator card should be placed onto the center of the test pack or articles pack according to the requirements of “Disinfection Technical Guidelines” issued by Ministry of Health. At each sterilization, each chemical indicator card should be placed in each big sterilization pack and the location where is hard for sterilization. The card should be wrapped with gauze or kraft paper when it is placed to prevent the indicator card to be moistened, which may affect the result. 

(Result Determination)

      After one sterilization cycle, it can determined that the sterilization process fulfills the eligible requirements when the indicator color patch becomes standard color or darker from original yellow. While non-uniform color appears on the chemical indicator card, this card should be judged ineligible.  

(Notices)

1. Don’t paste the type onto the surface of metal, glass or other hard material which is easy to form condensed water. And the articles pack also should not be near to the internal wall of a closet, so as to avoid it becoming moistened to affect the accuracy.

2. When air is supplied by pipe, condensed water may produced if there is too long naked pipe, which may result in increase of water content in saturated vapor to affect the effect of sterilization.

3. Don’t use a ceramic or glass jar with lid for sterilization process and also don’t place the chemical indicator card into such containers, so as not to influence the entry and discharge of saturated vapor.

4. Unreasonable or squeezing placement of the articles pack or instrument pack, non-normalized packs or too large or compact in pack size would prevent the penetration of vapor and affect the entry of saturated vapor and discharging of cool air.

5. If the temperature in cabinet is too low or the processing time is inadequate, the steam sterilizer or its gas supply should be checked for not affecting the sterilization result.
